As a systemic-relational thinker, I see the world through a complex lens of human relationships, and the interactional patterns within, among and around them. I recognize that our social locations, have a profound impact on opportunity and definitions of best hopes. Since the training system is significantly influenced by the quality of these relationships, we ought to be intentional about identifying the ways all members make meaning, as well as the influences that personal experiences and beliefs have on our professional work. Dr. Harry J. Aponte said it best when he affirms that “Who I am & how I am, impacts the work that I do in the here-and-now….What you do, emerges from who you are.”
So who is Shannon? Shannon is a wife, mom, daughter, granddaughter, niece, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, who believes in the power of a tribe (both given and chosen). Shannon is a runner, and a sports, travel, culture, film, live music/theater, food and nature lover. Shannon is a lifelong learner, who believes that courage, imagination, laughter, compassion, and forgiveness matter!
