I believe the therapeutic relationship is essential to the counseling process. I strive to be genuine, accepting, understanding, and to create safe and trusting environments for all clients. I tend to use an integrated counseling approach that incorporates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT).

As a counselor, I assess for critical items first and then help you explore your presenting concerns. I work collaboratively with you to create an individualized treatment plan with realistic goals. In sessions, I focus on your strengths, thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and relationships with others. I provide psychoeducation and purposeful interventions based on your treatment goals. I welcome the integration of your religious and spiritual beliefs and practices into therapy, and I check-in with you regularly to get your perspective on the counseling experience and your view of the therapeutic relationship.

I believe therapy is a learning process, including learning and practicing new skills. It is my goal to help you reach your goals and move toward improved wellness, increased awareness, positive attitudes, acceptance of feelings, and healthy behaviors.

I would describe myself as caring, thoughtful, and conscientious. I value justice, and I am dedicated, focused, and patient. I am a wife and mother, and I love running and chocolate!

I earned a Master of Science in Counseling with an emphasis in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in May of 2020. The Counselor Education program I completed is accredited by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP).

I have a Professional Counselor Training License (No. 4640-226) and a Marriage and Family Therapist Training License (No. 753-228) through the Marriage and Family Therapy, Professional Counseling, and Social Work Examining Board of the State of Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services.

I am under the supervision of Shannon Doherty, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist & AAMFT Approved Supervisor (No. 918-124).
